A brand I really admire is Zara. I really love the way they have designed their website, and the way they style their clothing. When you go onto Zaras website it looks like a magazine rather than a clothing company. The website is full of high quality and well thought out images that look like editorials from a magazine. Their website also has catwalk videos of their clothing, giving the brand a luxury feel to it even though, it’s a high street brand. Even if you’re not looking for clothes, it is still fun to go on their website and see all of their new clothing and accessories. Zaras website is an way more than just a website, its an experience for the customer.
The way they style their models perfectly captures how they want the clothes to look. Instead of a basic picture of a top that doesn’t sell the clothing well, they have their models in front of magical sceneries, wearing stylish outfits that have been carefully designed. When you look at each image, you want to know piece of clothing is. I think this is such a clever tactic for selling a product.
I looked on zaratalent.com to see what job it is that is responsible for these images because, this is a job I would love to do. The job title states that it involves working behind the scenes, working on designing the shoots after being given a brief. Then taking part in photoshoots for creating the image. This is a job that I already feel quite familiar with. From my first year doing Fashion Communciation and Promotion, I have learnt a lot about how to tackle a brief that has been given to me. Furthermore, from doing editorials while working on a magazine project, I learnt a lot about what it is like to work behind the scenes. After completing the full duration of the course, I feel like I will be very familiar with the roles that this job asks for.
Being in charge of art direction definitely stands out to me. I like the idea of being the person who creates the vision for the images. Making mood boards and designing an image is something I would love to do. Zara realeases new clothing for each season. I would love to be in charge of designing how to photograph the new lines of clothing for each season. Planning the location and set up for each shoot that matches with what season we are in. Or even just planning an editorial in general. I love planning photoshoots so this job would work well for me.
The styling also stands out to me. I love styling and would be interested in being a stylist in the future. I’m very inspired with how Zara style their clothing, so I think I would learn a lot from working with them. They have fun with their shoots, experimenting with putting contrasting pieces together and making it work.
